Another solar panel manufacturer in this highly competitive market is closing up shop. Bosch announced it is getting out of the Crystalline Silicon business. This is another example of how important it is to do your homework when purchasing solar panels and determine who is in for the long haul to honor the 25 year warranties. My research and my distributor’s vetting of manufacturers has paid off with stability and consistency in the companies we do business with.

With the power going out more regularly these days RI solar electric system owners can add batteries to their system to keep the heat, lights and refrigerator going while they wait for National Grid to restore grid power. And then when the grid is back up and running, system owners can continue to net-meter and offset the power they import from the grid. Batteries are also a nice quiet alternative to loud, fuel-burning generators.

November  2012 / United States’ Clean Energy Patents Soar, Report Indicates

The number of clean energy U.S. patents granted in a quarter has reached a new high in the second quarter of 2012, according to the Clean Energy Patent Growth Index. The second quarter’s 786 patents topped the first quarter total of 694, making it the highest tally in any quarter since the firm of Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti P.C. began tracking clean energy patents in 2002.

“The categories of patents monitored are: solar and wind energy; hybrid and electric vehicles (EV); fuel cells; hydroelectric, tidal, and wave power; geothermal energy; biomass and biofuels; and other renewable energy. The most patents (264) were granted for fuel cells, followed by solar (188) and wind (187). Among those that were granted patents, Toyota topped the list with 46, mainly in fuel cells and EVs, followed by GE with 43, consisting mostly of wind energy patents, and General Motors with 30 patents concentrated in fuel cells and vehicles.”

October 2012 / Why Solar?

Solar panel prices have come down over 50% in the last two years. Email today for a free site analysis and cost estimate. If you have received a quote in the past, email or call us for an updated quote.

We will beat competitor’s prices while maintaining our commitment to installing only the highest quality products from manufacturers that will be around to honor their twenty five to thirty year warranties.

Win, Win, Win-

The first question most people ask when thinking about installing solar on their home is “what is the payback?” There are three immediate benefits and then another down the road. Immediately after turning on your system your electric bill will be reduced or eliminated for the next thirty to forty years. Your home will also be worth more and that added value is tax exempt. A study in California found that installing an average size system on an existing home, about three kW,  added about $17,500 to the value of the home. Not a bad deal considering the system would cost around $15,000. The third immediate benefit benefits everyone, you’ll be making clean, emission-free electricity. Right now in RI it takes around ten years for the system to pay for itself. The warranties alone on the system components are twenty five and thirty years with a longer expected lifespan of the system which means after the system pays for itself, you’ll get twenty to thirty years of free, clean electricity at the much higher rates of that time. So installing solar is a win, win, win! You also make a statement that you’re doing your part in helping make sure we leave our children a world they can live with.
